Research Interests
• Microbial metabolism of toxic organic pollutants and transformation of metals;
• Molecular ecology of new microorganisms (e.g., anaerobic ammomium oxidation bacteria, ammonia-oxidizing archaea, anaerobic methane oxidizing bacteria and archaea) in carbon and nitrogen cycles;
• Microbial biofilms including the mechanisms of initial interactions between bacteria and surfaces of natural or artificial materials;
• Petroleum oilfield microbiology an new biotechnology for energy recovery;
• Environmental toxicology of endocrine-disrupting chemicals and their effects.
